To bridge the gap between availability and demand of
power, PCKL facilitates in establishment of various generation projects through
the bidding route. PCKL also co-ordinates the procurement of power from
different sources for allocation among ESCOMs and facilitates trading and
related activities. On behalf of the ESCOMs, it procures power through Case-I
and Case-II Tariff based competitive bidding based on guidelines of the Ministry
of Power, Govt. of India.
Procurement of Power on behalf of ESCOM’s through
competitive bidding under case-I guidelines of MOP :
On Long Term basis for a period of 7 Years and above.
On Medium Term basis for a period from 1 to 7 Years.
On Short Term basis for a period less than 1 Year.
Procurement of power on behalf of ESCOMs through competitive bidding under
case-II guidelines of MOP :
Gulbarga – 1320 MW coal based.
Ghataprabha - 1320 MW coal based.
Belgaum – 700 MW gas based.
Gadag - 700 MW gas based.
Davanagere - 700 MW gas based.
of power from Energy Exchanges on behalf of ESCOMs.
Facilitating banking of Power with other utilities in the country.
Purchase Agreements of Conventional Power Plants developed by IPPs in the State:
Udupi Power Corporation Ltd., : 2X600MW imported coal based.
Hassan Thermal Power Plant : 500 MW imported coal based.
Purchase Agreements of Ultra Mega Power Projects, Central Generating Stations.
To act as facilitator on the following for Case-II Projects :
Land acquisition through revenue department / KIADB, GoK
Allocation of water from the Water Resource Department, GoK
Pursue with MOP and MOC, GOI for allocation of fuel linkages/coal blocks
Arrange for preparation of Environment Impact Assessment, Pre-
Feasibility Report and Detailed project reports through consultant / experts
Forecasting energy availability on behalf of ESCOMs.
